Short Wave InfraRed SWIR laser sources

Overview

SWIR_2

Lasers around 2 µm drive high-harmonic generation at high photon energies, broadband mid-infrared spectroscopy and efficient THz conversion, and open new routes in silicon processing and polymer welding. Their average powers and pulse energies still lag a decade behind 1 µm technology. We close that gap with holmium- and thulium-based oscillators and amplifiers, which regularly means measuring the properties of the optical materials involved for the first time.
